After spending nearly all of July at home and in Northern VA, we departed Virginia Beach for the PGA Championship in Louisville at the beautiful Valhalla Country Club. We made a short interim visit to my Sister Debbie's home just outside the metropolis of Oregonia, OH. :-)
While at her house, Walt and his son were trying get an old Cat pulling dozer running. And they did after a few maintenance items were taken care of. Little Walt is on it while Big Walt and his Brother-in-Law is assisting. An even older Cat is parked in front, but is for parts only. Thanks Sis for putting up with us and the amenities there at the Biggs RV Resort.
Look familiar? Right! Fort Knox! We camped at Camp Carlson just off of, but part of the base while we volunteered at Valhalla. I also played a few rounds at Lindsey Golf Course on the base. This photo was taken from #12 tee box, and is only about nine iron away. I was told by a fellow golfer one day that if you even talk out loud that you want to try and hit a shot over towards it, a voice over a loudspeaker will bellow out "Don't do it". Big Brother is watching & listening!
Down the hill from the club house is the large merchandise tent where Nancy and I did our four shifts of volunteering. Are we glad we had inside duties at this event! It stormed a few times so bad one morning that it leaked in all the doors. Yuk! But it had A/C so we were comfy, actually cold it worked so good.
Hole number 12...
Hole number 18...
Inside the merchandise tent; Nancy checking on a few displays for restocking and organizing. We did a lot of organizing and taking empty boxes to the recycle dumpster. Above/below is the Ahead section where we worked the first day. The next three days we worked in Nike women's section. I didn't mind!
Above the seamstress station was very busy putting names or slogans on hats.
Above was outside of the merchandise tent overlooking hole 13. Nice day, so far.

A selfie...sorry! ...and below standing on hole 17 tee box...
And yes, this one of the four majors played each year...so it was "Major"...
Nancy actually took this one...and the one below too, with statues of the designers Jack Nicklaus and Dwight Gahm.
Above, me pulling & hanging stock...oh fun! NOT! But we did keep very busy so four hours passed quickly.
Beautiful golf course among the rolling hills just above the Ohio River and just east of downtown Louisville, KY. Fun time. During our stay here, we managed to take a few tours of the surrounding counties. We will blog those events next. So, till then, RVing Beach Bums signing off.
